Media Officer: Stakeholder Urges Ondo state Football Agency to make appointment

The former Secretary Sunshine Stars FC of Akure Clement Olagundoye has enjoined Ondo state football agency to name replacement For erstwhile media officer Chris Okunnuwa who voluntarily resigned last week. He made this disclosure in a chat with Sportgister Nigeria in Akure. “We implore the management of Ondo State Football Agency to unfold the new Media Officer of the Sunshine Stars FC to the public since the former officer had voluntarily resigned from the club” “The job of Media officer in a club is very important as he / she intimate the public on the happenings in the club and we don’t be in darkness”. He added”we have good hands in the state and as a matter of urgency,the management should employ one and make it known to the public” Once again,we thank and appreciate the State Government for her moral, psychological and financial support given to our darling team at this on going football season.

Real Madrid to face bitter rivals Barcelona in cup semis

Real Madrid will face bitter rivals Barcelona in the Copa del Rey semi-finals after the draw was made at the Spanish FA's headquarters on Monday. Osasuna will clash against Athletic Bilbao in the other semi-final. The matches take place on four different dates in February, March and April with the Spanish FA having a schedule headache as Real Madrid play in the FIFA Club World Cup early in February and then two legs of the Champions League last 16. Real and Barca meet in the first leg at Camp Nou on March 1 and will play the second leg at Santiago Bernabeu on April 4 or 5. Osasuna will play Athletic on Feb. 8 and March 1. The semi-final represents a chance for LaLiga and European champions Real to get revenge for their 3-1 loss two weeks ago in the Spanish Super Cup against Barcelona. Barca are currently the league leaders after they moved on to 47 points with their 1-0 win at Girona on Saturday. Real are second, five points behind.

 The chance of Nigeria’s Men basketball team D’Tigers to participate in the final window of the 2023 FIBA Men’s World Cup Qualifier in Luanda, Angola, is hanging in the balance as the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) is cash strapped and waiting on the Federal Ministry of Sports to come to the team’s rescue. The 2023 FIBA Men’s World Cup is scheduled to be held from August 25- September 10 in Japan, Indonesia and Philippines while the final window for qualifiers is to be held from February 20-28, 2023. Daily Trust investigation has revealed that with less than 25 days to the dunk-off of the final window, the NBBF is yet to get funds from either the sports ministry or any of its sponsors for the national team. Remo Stars of Ikenne on Wednesday defeated Shooting Stars Sports Club of Ibadan 2-0 in the first installment of a South West derby, that saw Coach Gbenga back in Remo land, for a duel against the side helped to finish in a respectable 3rd position, which secured for them a slot in one of CAF's Inter-Club Championships, the Confederation Cup. NIPOGA GAMES: Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti Emerges Winner Of The 21st Edition.

  The Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti has emerged the winner of the 21st edition of the Nigeria Polytechnic Games Association , NIPOGA hosted by Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo Ondo State. Forty Polytechnics participated in nine different sports at the NIPOGA. The Lagos State Polytechnic finished second while the Polytechnic Ibadan finished third in the overall medals table. Declaring the game closed,Ondo State governor Mr Oluwaroimi Akeredolu represented by the commissioner for youths and sports development Mr Bamidele Ologun commended the organisers and called for consistency to ensure that the game help in harnessing talents.  Nigeria representative at this year’s edition of the Basketball Africa League (BAL), Kwara Falcons will begin preparation on Monday 23rd January 2023. A Club statement confirmed through it media department that players will report to the club training court on Monday morning to meet Coach Baba Jubril and the rest of the backroom staffs to discuss on the clubs camping exercise and create a road map for the forthcoming event. The basketball event came to a successful ending at the ongoing Nigeria Polythenic games (NIPOGA) 2022 tagged Owo 2022 with The Federal Polythenic Nasarawa winning gold in the male category and Kaduna state polythenic won the female category. The event started on monday 16th January 2023 ended on the Friday 20th January 2023 with much fun and tension as the two finals Yaba polythenic from Lagos and Federal Polythenic Nasarawa gave the fan the beautiful game to behold. Earlier, Polythenic of Ibadan defeated Delta state polythenic Otefe Oghara in the female category to win bronze, while Kaduna state polythenic show superiority over Isa Mustapha Agwai polythenic LAFIA to win the gold medal.  Following the successful hosting of the maiden edition of the southwest under17 male and female basketball championship by Hope Basketball Academy Nigeria tagged "Play against drug abuse". The organizers are planning on having the second edition of the most educative southwest program.
