NPFL: Sunshine Stars pip Bayelsa
Sunshine Stars Football Club yesterday strolled past Bayelsa United with four minutes lone goal in the matchday six of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) decided at Ondo State Sports complex,Akure.
Chukwudi Stephen gave Sunshine Stars the lead in the 4th minute after he nodded to the top corner of the net from a cross.
Both sides continued the hostility with beautiful football artistry with the score board remained unchanged to the advantage of the home side.
The restart of the matchday six NPFL encounter both saw Sunshine Stars rued many goal chances .
With Mustapha Lawal saved a thunderous free kick from Bayelsa United’s Taiwo AbdulRafiu to ensure the Akure Landlords kept the maximum points in the kitty.
In a chat with newsmen after the encounter, Sunshine Stars Coach, Edith Agoye said the maximum points is very important to his side , saying it has pushed then up a bit on the log.
Agoye urged fans to be patient with the team, saying goals will soon be coming in numbers .
He said: “We will continue to work hard on the goals scoring aspect, thank God we are creating chances be it at home and away, we will work on goal scoring and by the time the goals will he coming it will be in numbers”, he said.
On his part Bayelsa United coach, Dipreye Teibowei said the game was one of the best matches in the NPFL in recent time in all aspect, saying the officiating is superb.a
According to him, “I’m impressed with the match despite the fact that we lost and going back home with zero point, it was of high standard, my boys were able to show class, we are going to set our eyes on our next match.”
